These Dating Community Guidelines (“Guidelines”) are designed to ensure a positive, respectful, and safe experience for all Participants of the Viber Dating Services. These Guidelines supplement Viber Terms of Service (“Viber General Terms”), Viber Dating Terms and Conditions (“Dating Terms”), and Viber Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) (collectively with any other applicable documentation “Terms”), and apply to all content made available through the Dating Services, including without limitation through the Dating Profile and interactions between Participants (“Content”). These Guidelines are an integral part of our Terms, which set out specific rules for what content we allow on Viber. In any case of conflict, these guidelines will prevail with respect to the matters herein. Any term not defined here shall have the meaning ascribed to it under the Terms.
We would like the Dating Services to be a safe and positive experience for everyone. As we cannot anticipate every situation that might come up, we reserve the right to decide, in our sole discretion, what content violates our policies and will not be permitted through the Dating Services.
We reserve the right, at our discretion, to revise or update these Guidelines at any time. Such changes shall be effective upon the publication of the amended Guidelines on our website. The last revision will be reflected in the “Last Updated” heading above. Your continued use of our Services following such revisions constitutes your consent to such changes and you agree to be bound by them. Please make sure to review these Guidelines and the Terms periodically for any changes.
Dating Services Guidelines
To ensure a positive and respectful experience for everyone using our Dating Services, please follow these specific guidelines. These guidelines do not derogate from the general guidelines provided in the AUP and the Terms.
Authenticity Matters
Provide only accurate and truthful information in your Dating Profile and interactions with others. Do not impersonate others or provide false information about yourself. You do not have to use your full name but do choose a name that authentically represents your true identity without using any fictional names. Misrepresentation or deceptive behavior is not tolerated. When using the Dating Services, be yourself. Other Participants want to meet the real you.
Content Guidelines
Do not post content through the Dating Services that violates our Acceptable Use Policy, including but not limited to hate speech, violent content, or sexually explicit material. Content shared publicly, including through the Dating Profile, should be appropriate and respectful. Private content must be consensual.
Profile Photo Guidelines
Ensure your Dating Profile photos are appropriate and respectful. Photos should be clear and recent, representing you accurately. Avoid using any photos that are heavily distorted or contain exaggerated or unnatural digital effects to the extent that it is unclear whether you are the person in the photos. Do not post public photos that contain nudity, sexual content, or images of children alone. We reserve the right to request further information or implement photo approval process upon our sole discretion.
No Illegal Activities
All activities must comply with local, state, and federal laws. Specifically, in the context of the Dating Services, offering, soliciting, or promoting illegal or paid sexual services through the Dating Services is strictly prohibited. Do not use the Dating Services for any illegal activities, including but not limited to child pornography, sexual exploitation, sexual harassment, and abuse.
Zero Tolerance to Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse
We have a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Content that depicts or endangers children in any sexual manner, whether real or fictional (including anime, media, text, illustrations, or digital images), is strictly forbidden. This includes all visual representations or discussions of sexually explicit behavior involving a minor. For the purposes of these Guidelines, a minor is defined as anyone under the age of 18. It is prohibited to upload, store, produce, share, or solicit the sharing of material that involves child sexual abuse, regardless of the intent, even if it is meant to denounce or bring attention to such matters. We will report any such suspected activity subject to our internal policies and in accordance with our regulatory obligations. This might include reporting to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) or any similar authority or organization.
Scams and Fraudulent Activities
Engaging in romantic scams or fraudulent activities is also strictly prohibited. We strictly prohibit any form of activity aimed at deceiving or manipulating Participants of the Dating Services for financial or material gain. This includes misrepresenting your intentions to deceive another Participant, soliciting financial support for meeting or interacting, or faking romantic interest to exploit members financially or materially.
Be Respectful and Kind
Treat other Participants with respect and courtesy. Harassment, bullying, and any form of disrespectful behavior are strictly prohibited. This includes making unsolicited comments about someone’s appearance, engaging in emotional abuse, or sending repeated unwanted messages. Ensure your interactions are always consensual and respectful.
Respect Boundaries and Consent
Always seek and respect the consent of others when interacting through the Dating Services. Unwanted advances or messages are not acceptable. Explicit content may only be shared in private conversations if all parties involved have given clear affirmation.
Safety First
Exercise caution when interacting with other users through the Dating Services. Do not share personal information with someone you do not trust and pay extra caution when posting or publicly sharing any of your personal data. Remember we do not verify nor responsible for the identity of any Participant. Use of the Dating Services is upon participant sole discretion and responsibility.
Reporting and Enforcement
Report any suspicious or harmful behavior to Viber support immediately. If you encounter abusive, offensive, or inappropriate behavior or content, report it directly through the service’s interface or by contacting Viber support as instructed below or through the AUP. Viber may review Participants’ conduct through the Dating Services, including any content or interactions, to enforce these Guidelines.
You can report any content or inappropriate behavior to our safety and support team by either using our in-app reporting feature or by completing the form available within our Support portal (https://vb.me/ContactUs). We review these reports to determine whether there is a violation of this AUP, or the Viber Terms and any action needs to be taken (“Reported Content”).
We strongly encourage you to contact your local law enforcement agency immediately if you ever feel that a crime has been committed or will be committed soon via our Services or otherwise. If you encounter any content that depicts or endangers children in any sexual manner, please report it to us immediately. Further, you can always report the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (https://report.cybertip.org/).
We at Viber may also report directly to the authorities in certain cases and encourage you to do the same if you feel the content can lead to a criminal event. If you are a governmental authority or law enforcement, please review the page: Law Enforcement and Governmental Authority Informational Page.
Viber further reserves the right to use artificial intelligence and machine learning tools as well as human teams to pre-moderate and review content published for any potential illegal content or content that violates this AUP and our Terms.
We may remove the offending content, terminate or limit the visibility of your Account, or notify law enforcement. Viber may remove any Reported Content, at its sole discretion, if it finds it to be in breach of these Guidelines, the AUP, Terms or applicable law. We will make best efforts to notify the parties of our decision, however if we were not able to do so, you may appeal or contact our support as further instructed under the AUP.
Viber further reserves the right to block or suspend a user from using its Services or the reporting feature if it determines that such user frequently submits reports or complaints that Viber has determined are manifestly unfounded.
